Ahobilam - Wonderful divyadesam

Ahobilam is located in Karnool district of Andhra Pradesh which is nearly 420 kms from Chennai.
The temple consists of nine shrines of Lord Narasimha they are

 1. Jwala Narasimha 2. Ahobila Narasimha 3. Malola Narasimha 4. Kroda Narasimha 5. Karanja Narasimha 6. Bhargava Narasimha 7. Yogananda Narasimha 8. Kshatravata Narasimha and 9. Pavana or holy Narasimha

Ahobilam is also called as Garudachalam / Garudadri. Ahobilam is the place where the Lord Narasimha  killed Hiranyakasipu and  blessed Prahalada. Here Thayaar is called as Senjulakshmi.

The temple is divided into two parts- upper Ahobilam and lower Ahobilam. Of these nine shrines, Yogananda, Chathravata and Bhargava Narasimha swami shrines are in lower Ahobilam and the remaining six are in upper Ahobilam.

We started from Chennai on Friday nite at 10 p.m. by Innova . We took Tiruvallur, Renigunta, Kodur, rajamapet, Cuddapa, Allagada and reached Ahobilam at 4.30 a.m. on saturday.

We first went to Lower Ahobilam and had wonderful darshan of Lord Narasimha.  After which we started our journey slowly inorder to cover all the Upper Ahobilam narasimhar.

First we went to Varaga narasimhar and  after which we went to Jwala, we need to climb through rocks, walk on the steep edge of the rock, cross the river bed and cross a narrow path way for about an hour. After darshan at Jwala, we stepped down to next temple called Malola narasimhar. While walking towards the next narasimhar, we can see GARUDA VIEW of the hill.
Next we went to  Karanja narasimhar which is in the lower ahobilam. Within 4 hours we completed these Narasimhar and took rest  for a while and again in the evening at 3.30 we started to Pavana Narasimhar thro Jeep. It is a very rough 2 hour drive from lower Ahobilam and the path is very steep and narrow.

After covering these six temples, the remaining two temples,Yogananda and Chatravata,  are  on the plain ground which are in the distance of couple of kilometers.  Then you have Bhargava temple. For this temple you need to climb 120 steps and to reach this place, there is no paved road, you have to hire a jeep to reach the Bhargava temple

Overall, Ahobilam provides wonderful  opportunity for trekking and you can walk around in a beautiful  village and have heart touching scenic where plenty of water ponds, resting  places etc.  There are so many caves on the way you can see. The beauty of forest can be felt while we climb the hil.
