Sri Govindarajaswami Temple

This Temple is the main attraction for pilgrims at Tirupati and the biggest in town. Here the sleeping posture or Anantha sayanam posture of Lord Govindarajaswami is different to that of all other posture bec Lord Govindaraja  has the MARAKA as his head rest. As he is tired of Counting the money  he borrowed from Kubera for Marriage so resting in this posture.

Sri Kapileswaraswami Temple

Situated about 3-km to the north of Tirupati, at the foot of the Tirumala Hills, is the only temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, in Tirupati. The sacred waterfall called "Kapila Teertham " (also known as "Alwar Teertham") is located here. It is also the venue of many festivals.

Sri Kalyana Venkateswaraswami Temple

This sacred temple is located 12-km to the west of Tirupati at Srinivasa Mangapuram and it is believed that Lord Venkateswara stayed here after his marriage with Sri Padmavati Devi, before proceeding to Tirumala.

Places to See at Tirumala

Sripadam & Sila Thoranam

As per History, Lord Venkateswara came to Tirumala in search of his wife. She He had reverence towards the sage Brigu Maharshi, even though the sage had insulted him by kicking Him on the chest, the place where his wife Mahalakshmi was thr. He stood at the Top of Tirumala, which is now called SRIPADAM

On the way down from Sripadam to Tirumala, there is a place called SILA THORANAM. Here natural rock depicts Lord Vishnu’s Sangu, Sakram, Thiruman and his Abhayakaram.

During excavations in the 1980's on a mound of earth in the jungles 1 km. North of the temple where it was believed that some information lied buried about the Lord's transformation into rock, a very rare phenomenon of two different sets of rocks connected together in the form of a thin link was found. This formation is known to exist elsewhere only at the 4 fingers of Texas and somewhere in Australia. This is pretty small in size relatively but what makes it unique and astounding is that nowhere in rock formations known to exist on the Indian soil have been found to be of this type and also, the height of The Lord confirms exactly to the distance of the pinnacle of the arch from the foot of the same! Also, two other formations excavated along with resemble the celestial conch and the discus that are the Lord's possessions. These have not been carved even remotely. They are formed naturally very mysterious indeed! This geological arch is a very rare spectacle in the world. This arch (older than the Jurassic age) is 25ft in length, l0ft in height. Pilgrims must make it a point to visit this wonder of the world during their Tirumala trip.

From there Lord Vishnu came down to Tirumala and there Varaha Murti gave him this piece of land to abode and search his wife. That’s why elderly people ask us to first see Thayaar get her blessings, come to Tirumala and see Varahar (as he gave place to our Lord) and then worship Lord Venkateswara by informing him that we saw his wife so that he feels happy and bless us with prosperity.

Siva Temple – Suyambhu Lingam and Chakrathazhvar

From Silathoranam, if we cross the Small river ganga thro the bridge, we will be able to get the dharshan of Lord Shiva and Lord Chakrathazhvar (both Suyambhu)

Akash Ganga

This is very famous for the prime reason is that its waters are used for The Lord's bath every day. In the olden days, the priestess took turns to carry the water all the way from this part of jungle to the temple but now TTD has laid water lines into the temple and thus simplified. In rainy season Akashganga's gushing waters provide a beautiful sight and a bath here at that time is really refreshing.

The Papa Vinashanam (cleanser of Sins)

5 Kms north of the Tirumala temple is a deep bowl formed by the surrounding hills that created a reservoir ages ago and many a mountain stream emptied into it – Papa Vinasham - The Cleanser of sins.

A dam was constructed across but the pilgrims, thus preserving the tradition, provided a bypass for bathing. It is believed that the holy waters of this place dissolve the sins of the devotees. Hence this place is known as Papavinashanam. A dam constructed here regulates the water flow.

Tirumala

Lots of devotees would have gone to Tirupathi regularly but only some knows the traditional method of dharsan

Before we go see our beloved God Lord Venkatesa at Tirumala, we need to first go to Alamelu Mangapuram at Tirupathi and get Thayaar’s blessings.

After reaching Tirumala, devotees will directly go to Vaikuntham complex and stand in the que.. but after reaching Tirumala we need to see two places importantly before we go for Dharshan

One being the Varaha Murthi Sannadhi and Other is the Pushkarni of Lord Venkatesa.

After worshipping Varaha Murthi, we can get into the Vaikuntham Que Complex and go for Dharshan.

While moving in the line, many devotees rush up and push others. These are all bad ethics and should be avoided. Whom ever enters the Vaikuntham Complex will surely have Dharshan of Lord Venkatesa.

Before entering the main path which will take us to Karpagraham in the Pillar, you could see Varaha Murthi statue, who gives us his blessing if we miss out his darshan at his temple.

After having a wonderful darshan, we need to See Vakula Devi, Mother of Lord Venkatesa who oversees the cooking made for her son thro a Hole in the Kitchen. Pray to Lord Annapurani for food for ever

Next we have to get blessings from Vimana Venkatesan from the Golden Vimana Gopuram.

We could see Narasimhar in various poses at various places, but only in Tirumala, we could see THOON PILANDHA NARASIMHAR. He can be viewed in between the Pillar before entering to his sannadhi.

Vishvaksena, the person who actually tells our Lord Venaktesa abt our visit to him. Please inform him abt your presence and finally offer your money in Hundi.

Before Starting from Tirupathi, pls make sure that you buy something in Wood and take it home.
